Distortions

Publication design

Distortions is a reimagining of Oscar Wilde's 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', updated in the style of a visual narrative. The book extensively references pop culture within its imagery, highlighted with typographical flourishes for emphasis.

The book’s design creates a sense of uncertainty and surprise in the reader through the use of both manual and digital design methods. Both the title text on the cover of the book and the binding are stitched in white cotton, representing the distorted and chaotic thought process of the primary character. The imagery was created through collage and then digitised.

This project was completed as part of the Bachelor of Design (Honours) program at Swinburne University of Technology.
